Reno Omokri: ‘You can’t be a feminist and a Christian’

Popular social media commentator, Reno Omokri has sparked a debate on the social media platform, Twitter.

In a recent Twitter post, Reno Omokri opined that it is impossible to be a feminist and equally be a Christian. He stated this on the microblogging site, Twitter on Thursday, January 14.

He tweeted:

“You can be a feminist, or you can be a Christian.

But you can’t be a feminist and a Christian. A Christian wife must submit to her husband. A feminist does not submit to a man. Thus, feminism (as is currently defined) cant coexist with Christianity. “

A follower responded:

“That’s your opinion and it’s alright.

It has been your opinion however doesn’t make it true for everyone else.

I’m a Christian and a proud feminist!”

And Reno replied:

My marriage to my beauty queen wife and my preference for organic food, are my opinions. But the contradiction between feminism and Christianity is not my opinion. Ephesians 5:22 makes it a fact:

“Wives, SUBMIT yourselves to your husbands”

Still, on the ideology of feminism, renowned Nollywood actress, Genevieve Nnaji shared her perspective a couple of months ago.

According to the actress, she has the right to do whatever she pleases.

The actress said;

“My own feminism is just human rights.

I’m a woman who has rights to her own choices, I can do whatever I want whenever I want.

It’s just that simple if I were a man it would be the same thing.

At the end of the day I was born alone, I’m going to die alone, I breathe alone.

So I definitely have the right to how I want to live my life.”
