It’s not just bars and restaurants that are now back in business after months, even as the pandemic rages on; but robbers have also gotten back to the grind.

However, with safety protocols being set in place for every activity to be carried out in the public; these thieves from UP were very particular about following the rules. Ironic, isn’t it?

According to a video that has surfaced online; the incident took place in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh – robbers entered a jewellery store wearing masks, got their hands sanitised by a store employee and then looted cash as well as jewellery worth almost Rs 40 lakh at gunpoint.

The entire incident was recorded on CCTV.

The incident reportedly took place at around 2:00 pm on Friday at ‘Sundar Jewellers’ near Sarasol Crossing in Aligarh’s Bannadevi area.

The CCTV footage shows two men casually walking into the store.

A store employee, assuming the robbers to be customers; offers them sanitiser as per safety protocol.

The two robbers sanitise their hands and then take out country-made guns and loot the store as a third member joins them.

The video shows one of the thieves taking out cash and jewellery from the locker after jumping over the counter; as an employee of the store sits with folded hands.

The CCTV footage also shows customers present in the store at the time of the robbery.

All of them can be seen scared and worried as the thieves rob the store.

The whole incident occurred in a matter of 30 seconds.

According to the store owner, the robbers looted jewellery worth about Rs 35 lakh and Rs 50,000 in cash.

A manhunt has been launched to catch the miscreants and a special team; including two officers of the rank of SP have been included in it.
