Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) says N145 price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), popularly known as petrol, has not been increased.

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Tuesday inaugurated the Governing Board of the Office for Disability Affairs to manage the N500million Disability Trust Fund, expressing optimism that it would aid people living with disabilities in Lagos State realize their dreams and live a more comfortable life.

Arms Probe: Dasuki did not steal $2.2b – Jonathan
Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has said that it was impossible for his former National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki, to have stolen $2.2 billion as being accused by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Responding to questions after his lecture on Youth Entrepreneurship at the famous Oxford Union in the United Kingdom, former President Goodluck Jonathan, said: “They said the National Security Adviser (Sambo Dasuki) stole $2.2billion. I don’t believe somebody can just steal $2.2 billion. We bought warships, we bought aircraft, we bought lots of weapons for the army and so on and so forth and you are still saying 2.2 billion, so where did we get the money to buy all those things? Read more

Troops arrest another 9 suspected Boko Haram collaborators
Nigerian troops have arrested another nine suspects said to be aiding the Boko Haram sect in the North East Zone, bringing the number of those caught in the last two days to 30.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday by army spokesman, Col. Sani Usman, the suspects included two officers, two soldiers, two policemen and 26 civilians. Read more

Court sentences man to 5 years imprisonment for unlawful possession of narcotic drugs
The Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday sentenced a 35-year-old man, Mohammed Nasiru, to five years imprisonment for unlawful possession of narcotic drugs weighing 2.3kg.
Nasiru of Fruit Market, Zuba, was first arraigned on Sept. 28, on a one-count charge of unlawful possession of narcotic drugs, cannabis, similar to cocaine weighing 2.3kg, which he had pleaded guilty. Read more

Fire destroys N5m goods at Sabongari Market

Why 2017 budget won’t be less than N6 trn, Adeosun tells Senate 

MINISTER of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, Tuesday, told the Senate that the Federal Government would sustain its over N6trillion national budget in the 2017 appropriation bill, expected to be submitted by President Muhammadu Buhari, after the consideration and subsequent approval of the pending 2017—2019 Medium Term Expenditure Framework, MTEF and Fiscal Strategy Paper, FSP, by the National Assembly.

Adeosun told members of the Senate Committee on Finance, led by its Chairman, John Owan Enoh, PDP, Cross River Central, who were on oversight visit to her ministry that government would maintain its over N6trillion annual budget because it spends over N3 trillion out of the budget sum for salaries, pension and debt services , leaving a paltry amount for capital projects. Read more

EU Commission seeks extension to border controls inside Schengen zone

Temporary border controls set up inside the European Union’s free-travel zone to cope with the migration crisis should be extended beyond a Nov. 15 expiry, the European Commission proposed on Tuesday.
