Sanwo-Olu in a speech yesterday appreciated Ambode for his sportsmanship and for providing the conducive environment for the primary to hold. He also thanked Tinubu and said his fatherly role would not be taken for granted even as he saluted the leaders of the party at the state and national level and promised not to let them down. Ambode pledged that if he is elected governor, he would make integrity his watchword. He said, “Fellow Nigerians, I want to thank us, thank all of you for the numerous support I have received from everyone, I should seize this opportunity to thank everyone. But first I need to thank the Almighty God who has kept all of us, Lagosians, Nigerians, up until this very moment; all glory, honour and adoration goes to the Almighty God.

Primaries: Buhari In Closed-Door Meeting With El-Rufai, Akeredolu

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday held a closed-door meeting with two state governors elected on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress. They are Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai; and his Ondo State counterpart, Rotimi Akeredolu. The meeting was held amidst growing controversies over the conduct of the party’s primaries and the screening of party aspirants across the country. In Kaduna State, the party’s National Working Committee disqualified El-Rufai’s anointed candidate, Uba Sani, in the race for the Kaduna Central District.

APC Candidate Ekere: They Shot Into My Bedroom

A bullet was fired into the Uyo home of All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Akwa Ibom State Mr. Nsima Ekere yesterday, the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) said yesterday. Ekere said he “narrowly escaped an assassination attempt”. Narrating how it happened, Ekere said he was meeting party leaders in the nearby residence of the Managing Director of the Oil and Gas Free Zones Authority, Mr Umana Umana, when the bullet was fired into his upstairs bedroom where his wife and sister were at the time.

 I’m Still Rivers APC Governorship Candidate, Says Abe

Senator Magnus Abe has declared that he remains the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Rivers State contrary to reports that he had backed off. Abe was elected by his faction of the party in the state through direct primary while the faction loyal to Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, elected Tonye Cole through an indirect primary. But there were media reports that he had backed off his governorship ambition and was negotiating with Amaechi for a chance to return to the senate.

Constituents Elect Dogara As PDP Candidate For 2019 Polls

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, has been elected by all the 325 delegates from the Bogoro/Dass/Tafawa-Balewa Federal Constituency in Bauchi State as the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2019 general election. All the delegates unanimously affirmed the Speaker as the sole candidate of the party during the party’s primaries held in Zwall town of Tafawa Balewa Local Government of the state Wednesday.

NAPTIP Rescues 52 Victims Of Human Trafficking In Edo/Delta

The Benin Zonal Command of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) rescued no fewer than 52 victims of human trafficking in the third quarter of this year. Mr Nduka Nwanwenne, Zonal Commander of the agency comprising Edo and Delta, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Benin on Thursday that the rescue was made from July to September.

More Nigerian retail banks and their customers are adopting a “digital-centric” approach to banking, the 2018 Consumer Digital Banking Satisfaction Index Report, has shown. According to the report produced by Nigeria’s first credit rating and research Agency, Agusto & Co. Limited, the study demonstrated that digital tools create a positive experience for customers. The Index report, highlights customer’s preferences and attitude towards digital banking platforms provided by banks in Nigeria.

Husband Conspires With Friends, Robs Wife

A man, Adewale Lukmon, has been arrested for allegedly conspiring with his friends, identified as Bidemi Fatai, Saheed Owolabi and Babatunde Ageele, to rob his wife, Funmilayo, of the sum of N159,000. Punch Metro gathered that both husband and wife lived together at their house on Leadway Estate, Eruwen, Ikorodu, Lagos State. Our correspondent learnt that on July 23, 2018, Funmilayo, a building contractor, got a business deal of N159,000. When she was given the money, her husband reportedly advised her to deposit it in her bank account.

 Herdsmen Kill 18 Persons In Plateau Midnight Attack

Suspected Fulani herdsmen have killed 18 persons and injured four others during an attack on Ariri community in Bassa Local Government Area on Wednesday. The killers wore black uniforms. Among the victims of the attack which took place at 11:30pm were toddlers, women, young children and local farmers.

All 100 members of the US Senate are to be given access to a limited FBI investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct against Brett Kavanaugh, Donald Trump’s supreme court nominee. Rapist Bradley Tout Goes On The Run After Jumping Out Of Dock And Fleeing Court

Police are hunting a rapist who fled from a court building moments after being found guilty of attacking a teenage girl. Bradley Tout, 20, vaulted the dock and ran out of Worcester Crown Court on Wednesday after being unanimously convicted alongside co-defendant Kulin Odedra. Addressing the jury, Judge Nicolas Cartwright said: ‘Well, I’ve never seen anything like that happen before.’ West Mercia Police warned that anyone harbouring Tout, of Durham Road, Worcester, would also face arrest. A witness in court said: ‘Seconds before he escaped Tout could be seen with both hands on the dock, which is more than three feet high.

Germany’s Merkel Visits Holocaust Memorial In Jerusalem

Head bowed, German Chancellor Angela Merkel paid homage in Jerusalem on Thursday to the six million Jews killed by the Nazis and said Germany had a responsibility to confront anti-Semitism and never to forget the Holocaust.
