The Senate on Wednesday instructed the Nigeria Police Force to search and find the killers of a lecturer with the Obafemi Awolowo University; Prof. Jerome Elutayo Elusiyan, and ensures the culprits are brought to justice.
More so, the Senate asked the Federal Government to place utmost priority on the lives of Nigerians; during the festive season and beyond.
The directive followed the adoption of the motion on the issue moved by the senator representing Osun East Senatorial district, Ayo Fadahunsi.
Fadahunsi told his colleagues that Elusiyan, an indigene of Oke-Igbo, Ondo State; was chairman, Medical Advisory Committee of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Ile-Ife.

He said some armed robbers shot dead the lecturer last Saturday along Benin/Ekpoma road in Edo State.
The senator said the gunmen who were operating on the road murdered the varsity don.
The Senate therefore mandated the police authorities to expose the killers; and bring them to justice.
The red chamber observed a minute silence in honour of the deceased; and asked the Federal Government to ensure the safety of Nigerians throughout the yuletide season and beyond.
The Chairman, Senate Public Accounts Committee, Senator Mathew Urhoghide, lamented the death of the lecturer.
He said Elusiyan was returning to Benin from the Ambrose Ali University; where he had gone to conduct an examination.
Urhoghide noted with concern that four days after the incident; the police had yet to apprehend the perpetrators.
