Big Brother Naija housemate, Tacha Akide has stated that Nigerians are afraid to speak up for their fundamental rights.
According to the reality star, the Twitter ban should not be implemented; however, the fear of being assaulted by the authorities has made Nigerian youths suppress their abilities.
Recall the Nigerian government banned the use of the social media platform, Twitter on Friday, June 4.
Tacha has now joined several other notable names to ban the use of the microblogging site.
The reality TV star shared her fears as well as frustrations via her Instagram Stories on Sunday, June 6, 2021.
“I really laugh at the people who think it’s just a Twitter them problem ‘ah nor be our wahala after all Instagram and Facebook is still loading.’ You guys don’t get the bigger picture.
The bigger picture is getting the whole Internet controlled,” she said.
“The bigger picture is you not being able to speak, the bigger picture is you not being able to express yourself as a citizen of this country, you people don’t understand the gravity.
You guys do not get how bad this is…if I’ll ever leave Istanbul I don’t know because if some people do not understand how serious this is.”
It would be recalled that the federal government suspended the social media platform on Friday, June 4.
On Friday the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed; via a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Segun Adeyemi, announced the indefinite suspension of Twitter operations in Nigeria.
