Tinubu Denies Involvement in Oando/ConocoPhilips Deal

Former Lagos State governor and a leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, yesterday reacted to some of the direct attacks from a former top-notch member of his party, Chief Tom Ikimi, who last week accused Tinubu of manipulating APC for personal gains.

Ikimi had in a lengthy letter titled: “APC, My Reflections” and addressed to the party’s National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, derided Tinubu, citing betrayal and his knack for acquiring wealth at the expense of others, as reasons for his decision to leave APC. Read more

Apple: Some nude shots taken from stars’ accounts

Apple said Tuesday that hackers obtained nude photos of Jennifer Lawrence and other female celebrities by pilfering images from individual accounts rather than through a broader attack on the company’s services.

Rivers State Government gets nod to access N52billion bond

The Rivers State House of Assembly has approved a fifty billion naira bond to aide infrastructural development in the state.

Hamas popularity ‘surges after Gaza war’

Hamas’s support has surged after its war with Israel and would win Palestinian elections if they were held today, an opinion poll suggests.

The Palestinian Centre for Policy and Survey Research’s poll, released on Tuesday, suggested Hamas leader Ismail Haniya would win almost twice as many votes as Fatah’s Mahmoud Abbas, in a two-way presidential election. Read more

Gov. Lamido, Deputy reject Jonathan’s endorsement by North West PDP

The Jigawa state Governor, Sule Lamido, has rejected the endorsement of President Goodluck Jonathan by the North West chapter of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The North West chapter had held a meeting in Kaduna at the weekend after which it announced the endorsement of President Jonathan to run for office again in 2015. Read more

Crude Oil Theft Witnessed 154% Reduction in Seven Months

Ebola threatens food security in West Africa

The world’s worst Ebola epidemic has put harvests at risk and sent food prices soaring in West Africa, the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) said yesterday, warning the problem would intensify in coming months.

The FAO issued a special alert for Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea, the three countries most affected by the outbreak, which has killed around 1,550 people since the virus was detected in the remote jungles of southeastern Guinea in March. Read more

FEC to approve infrastructure master plan today

Barring any last minute change, the Federal Executive Council will today (Wednesday) approve the National Integrated Infrastructure Master Plan, which will help to address the unnecessary duplication of infrastructure among the three tiers of government.

The League Management Company will not respond to the decision of Nigeria Football Federation to abruptly terminate its activities as organisers of the Nigeria Professional Football League, the LMC chairman, Nduka Irabor has told Goal.
