In July 2020, three head honchos of the Afrobeats music scene were expected to release their respective studio album, unfortunately, the anticipation was to no avail.
Understandably so, 2020 has been a year conundrum and chaos, hence, most entertainers especially musicians currently pick up the work from where they left off earlier in the year. Recall there was a lockdown due to the Coronavirus pandemic, therefore, production had to be on hold alongside every other project.
In the meantime, artistes are gradually putting in the work and meticulously crafting their new projects behind the scenes. Nigerians and listeners across the globe would appreciate quality music since they have been starved of impeccable music for a large portion of the year.
While the likes of Omah Lay and Ryan Omo are on the rise, heavyweights- Wizkid, Davido and Burna Boy are prepared to cement their names as the greatest contemporary singers.
There will be no room for mediocrity as it is quintessential for these artistes to leave an impression of a lifetime on their listeners. Wizkid’s lead single ‘Smile’ (featuring H.E.R) from the upcoming Made In Lagos was not well-received by his fans. However, it is too early to judge the entirety of the unreleased project.4
