U.S. President Donald Trump posted a large number of tweets on Monday blaming the media for purposefully preparing a furor over the rising Coronavirus caseload; while he accused the high numbers for expanded testing.
“Cases up in light of the fact that we TEST, TEST, TEST. A Fake News Media Conspiracy,” Trump said in one tweet.
While testing numbers are rising, so are hospitalisations; a sign that individuals are getting truly sick in more prominent numbers.
In excess of 80,000 cases were accounted for in one day throughout the end of the week, a record high; and the seven-day moving normal stays raised at levels not found in a while.
“COVID, COVID, COVID is being used by them [the media], in total coordination; in order to change our great early election numbers. Should be an election law violation!” Trump wrote in another tweet.
In the interim, there was another Covid flare-up among White House staff; based on individuals who work with Vice President Mike Pence.
Meanwhile, Twitter will add an app banner offering information about election results and voting by mail. The banners will appear on the home timelines of all US-based users; and they’ll pop up when people search for election-related phrases or hashtags.
Twitter says the new pop-ups “preemptively address topics; that are likely to be the subject of election misinformation.” One of the two banners reassures users that voting by mail is safe and also secure while the other informs people that election results may not be announced right away. Both link to Twitter Moments that the bird app will populate with up-to-date information about voting and results.
