‘We’re not planning to replace Sultan of Sokoto’ – APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto state has slammed rumours that it is scheming to dethrone the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, after winning the governorship election.

This was contained in a statement by the party’s chairman, Isa Sadiq Acida disclosed to journalists in Sokoto on Monday, March 4.

He said the false claim is being sponsored by an opposition party as part of propaganda to tarnish the image of innocent persons linked to such claims.

His words: “We condemn this ungodly campaign and dissociate ourselves from such claims. People should disregard this ranting of political dead-bodies who are due for burial next Saturday, at the political cemetery.

“The APC wishes to restate its respect for our traditional institutions, particularly the Sultanate council, and will ensure it continues to serve as a rallying point for all shades of political opinions.

“The Sultan remains the father of all Muslims and an embodiment of our cultural and religious values.”
