Nigerian recording artiste, Ayodeji Balogun, better known as Wizkid has changed his Instagram name to Big Wiz.
Wizkid has been identified as one of the most iconic singers to emerge from the Nigerian music industry.
On Sunday, June 6, the Nigerian recording artiste changed his name to ‘Big Wiz’. The move comes after using his renowned stage name for over a decade.
The name seems to portray the exact image of what his teeming fans have been clamoring for; as it reflects the growth and transformation the singer has experienced from when he started as a young chap in the musical entertainment scene; to the giant he is metamorphosing into.
The singer’s fans had suggested that the name “Wizkid” be replaced with something more befitting, noting that their star isn’t a “kid” anymore as a person and also in the musical scene.
Thus, one can say the “Ojuelegba” crooner does listen to his fans as he has now effected a change of his signature name.
In 2016, Wizkid achieved international recognition following his collaboration with Drake on the global hit, “One Dance”. Indeed, the song reached number one in 15 countries; including the United States; United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia.
In other news, during his live session on Instagram a couple of weeks ago, he opened up on how he started his own record label despite having no money.
The singer held nothing back during the session as he spoke about his career and struggle to achieve mainstream prominence.
“I started that business (Starboy Entertainment) with my friends.
”We literally started it in my living room.
”We didn’t even have much.”
