Wizkid: Made in Lagos submitted for nomination at the 2022 Grammys

Nigerian singer as well as songwriter, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid may be set to get his first Independent nomination; for “Made In Lagos” at the 2022 Grammy Awards.

Made in Lagos is Big Wiz’s fourth studio album released on 30 October 2020; by Starboy Entertainment as well as RCA Records.

Billboard, a platform that tabulates the relative weekly popularity of songs and albums; in the United States and also other countries; depending on the genre has confirmed that Wizkid’s album has been submitted; for nomination in the “Best Global Music Album” category.

The Billboard in a post via its official website wrote, ”Wizkid’s Made in Lagos is vying for a nod in the recently renamed best global music album category” at the 2022 Grammys.

Wizkid won his first-ever Grammy in 2021, for his contribution on Beyonce’s song, Brown Skin Girl.

Made In Lagos started gaining international recognition early this year; after several international stars drummed support for ‘Essence’, the eleventh song in the album. ‘Essence’, featuring Nigerian breakthrough star, Tems, made history; by being the first Nigerian song on the Billboard Hot 100 and Global 200 music chart in July.

The album was also the first African album to debut on the Spotify Global Album chart at top ten position barely a week after its release.
